About us at Peakbikestation.
About Peakbikestation – We're Here to Keep You Riding
Premium Parts. Pro Advice. Peak Performance. Personable. Period.
We're Not Your Average Bike Shop
Peakbikestation isn't just a place to buy bike parts – it's a community resource. We're a Community Interest Company (CIC No. 13773666), a special legal structure in the UK designed for businesses that exist to benefit people and communities.
That means every purchase you make here isn't just keeping your wheels turning – it's actively supporting cycling in the Peak District and helping make bike maintenance accessible to everyone in our community.
Our Story – Why Peakbikestation Exists
We're based in Hadfield, right on the edge of the Peak District – one of the UK's most spectacular cycling destinations. From the iconic Snake Pass to the trails of Longdendale and the rolling roads through the Dark Peak, this is a place where cycling isn't just a hobby, it's a way of life.
Peakbikestation started its journey in 2021, sprouting from a simple yet powerful idea: sharing the joy and freedom of cycling. Our foundation was laid through involvement with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE), where we began by teaching basic bike maintenance skills to local participants. Seeing the enthusiasm and need for accessible cycling support in Hadfield inspired us to grow into the dedicated local resource we are today.
By choosing the CIC structure, we made a public commitment: this business exists for the community, full stop.
What We Do
🔧 Premium Bike Parts & Accessories
We stock a carefully chosen range of quality components, consumables, and accessories – everything you need to keep your bike performing at its best, whether you're commuting through Glossop or tackling the Peak District's toughest climbs.
💬 Pro Advice, No Jargon
Not sure what you need? Just ask. We're cyclists ourselves, and we give honest, straightforward advice – whether you're a seasoned roadie, a mountain biker, or just getting back in the saddle after years away.
🚲 Family Bike Trailer Hire
Want to explore the Peak District with the whole family? We offer Burley Bee double trailer hire so you can bring the little ones along for the adventure. Our location in Hadfield puts you just minutes from the traffic-free Longdendale Trail – perfect for family cycling.
🤝 The Peak Bike Community Group
We're passionate about connecting cyclists! That's why we founded and actively manage the Peak Bike Community Group on Facebook – the place for local riders to share routes, organise rides, buy and sell gear, and stay updated on Peak Bike Station news.
What Is a Community Interest Company?
A CIC is a type of social enterprise registered with Companies House. Unlike a standard limited company, a CIC is legally required to serve a defined community benefit, pass the community interest test, and maintain an asset lock – meaning profits are protected and must be used for community benefit, not private gain.
In short: we're a business with a conscience, built into our legal DNA.
