About the Burley Bee
The Burley Bee is one of the most popular family bike trailers in the UK — safe, comfortable, and easy to tow. It carries two children up to a combined weight of 45kg and is suitable from approximately 12 months (when a child can sit unaided) up to around 7 years.

Getting here from Manchester
Hadfield is the last stop on the Glossop line from Manchester Piccadilly. Trains run regularly and the journey takes around 50 minutes. Peak Bike Station is a short walk from Hadfield station.
Travel from Manchester by train, collect the trailer from our shop, and you'll be on the Longdendale Trail within minutes of arriving. No car, no trailer to transport, no hassle.
Useful to know: the last train back from Hadfield to Manchester is at 22:44. Sunday services run to a different timetable — check before you travel. Northern Rail accepts bikes on the Glossop line subject to space; aim to travel outside peak hours.
Recommended routes from Hadfield
Longdendale Trail — the most popular choice for families hiring from us. A traffic-free, largely flat route along the Longdendale Valley reservoirs. The surface is a mix of tarmac and compacted gravel, suitable for bike trailers throughout. 6.5 miles one way — most families with young children ride 3–4 miles out and back.
Trans Pennine Trail — passes through Hadfield and connects to a wider network of traffic-free and quiet-road routes across the north of England. Suitable for confident cyclists with older children.
Glossop town centre — a short, easy ride from Hadfield along quiet roads and paths. Cafes, a market town centre, and facilities make it a good destination for a shorter ride with very young children.

Do I need a special bike to tow the trailer? Most standard adult bikes are compatible with the Burley Bee hitch. We fit the hitch to your bike at collection and remove it when you return. Bikes with unusual rear axle configurations (e.g. some e-bikes or bikes with internal gear hubs) may require a different hitch — contact us if you're unsure.
Can I bring my own bike on the train? Yes — Northern Rail trains on the Glossop line accept bikes subject to space. We recommend travelling outside peak hours and checking Northern Rail's current bike policy before travelling.
Do children need helmets? Yes — helmets are required for children in the trailer. We do not provide helmets, so please bring your own or purchase one before your visit.
Is the Longdendale Trail suitable for a bike trailer? Yes — the trail is well-surfaced and traffic-free, suitable for bike trailers throughout. The gradient is gentle and most adults find it manageable with two children on board.
