Longdendale Trail

The most popular traffic-free route in the area. Largely flat, well-surfaced, and suitable for all abilities including families with young children and bike trailers.

  • Suitable for bike trailers and young children

Trans Pennine Trail

Glossop sits on the Trans Pennine Trail — a long-distance route running coast to coast across northern England. From Glossop you can head west towards Stockport and the Mersey Valley, or east through Longdendale towards Penistone. Suitable for hybrid and mountain bikes.

Snake Pass and High Peak moorland

For experienced road cyclists, the Snake Pass (A57) is one of the most iconic climbs in the Peak District — a challenging ascent through dramatic moorland scenery. The surrounding High Peak also offers quieter lanes and moorland tracks for gravel and mountain bikes.

Glossop to Hayfield

A popular route for road and hybrid cyclists — quiet lanes through the Sett Valley connecting Glossop to Hayfield and the edge of Kinder Scout. Moderate gradients, good scenery, and a good cafe stop in Hayfield.
