We are based at Hadfield station — the terminus of the Glossop line from Manchester Piccadilly (approximately 50 minutes). You can travel by train from Manchester, collect the trailer from our shop, and be on the Longdendale Trail within minutes. No car required. The Longdendale Trail is a traffic-free, largely flat route along the Longdendale Valley — ideal for families with young children. The Trans Pennine Trail also passes through Hadfield, opening up further routes.

Common questions
Do I need a special bike to tow the trailer?
Most standard adult bikes are compatible with the Burley Bee hitch. We fit the hitch to your bike at collection and remove it when you return. Bikes with unusual rear axle configurations (e.g. some e-bikes or bikes with internal gear hubs) may require a different hitch — contact us if you’re unsure.
Can I bring my own bike on the train?
Yes — Northern Rail trains on the Glossop line accept bikes subject to space. We recommend travelling outside peak hours and checking Northern Rail’s current bike policy before travelling.
Do children need helmets?
Yes — helmets are required for children in the trailer. We do not provide helmets, so please bring your own or purchase one before your visit.
Is the Longdendale Trail suitable for a bike trailer?
Yes — the Longdendale Trail is a well-surfaced, traffic-free path suitable for bike trailers. The surface is a mix of tarmac and compacted gravel, and the gradient is gentle throughout.
Can one adult tow two children?
Yes — the Burley Bee is designed to be towed by a single adult cyclist. The trailer is lightweight and the Longdendale Trail is flat enough that most adults find it manageable with two children on board.
