Patch Kit vs Spare Inner Tube — Which Should You Carry?

Ideally both — but if you have to choose:

• Spare inner tube — faster to fit roadside, but you only get one shot. Once it's used, you're out of options.

How to Repair a Puncture:

1. Remove the inner tube and locate the puncture (submerge in water to find the bubbles)
2. Roughen the area around the hole with the metal scuffer
3. Apply a thin layer of vulcanizing solution and wait 1–2 minutes until tacky
4. Press the patch firmly onto the prepared area, centred over the hole
5. Hold firmly for 30 seconds, then peel the foil backing carefully
6. Dust with chalk to prevent the patch sticking to the tyre
