What’s in the kit?
- Weldtite TF2 Ultra Dry Chain Wax — 100ml — dry wax lubricant for chains in dry, dusty conditions. Repels grit and keeps the drivetrain clean.
- Weldtite Citrus Degreaser Spray — biodegradable citrus degreaser for removing old lube and grime from chains, cassettes, and chainrings before relubing.
- Weldtite TF2 Lithium Grease — 40g — water-resistant grease for bearings, threads, seatposts, and pedal threads. Prevents corrosion and component seizing.
Who is it for?
This kit is for cyclists who want to maintain their drivetrain properly through the summer months. The three products cover the complete drivetrain care routine: degrease the chain and cassette, apply fresh dry wax lube, and protect bearings and threads with lithium grease. It’s the kit we put together at Peak Bike Station for riders heading out on dry Peak District trails and roads during summer.
Why dry wax lube for summer?
In dry conditions, a wax-based lube keeps the chain significantly cleaner than a wet oil lube — it dries on the chain and repels dust rather than trapping it. The result is a quieter, cleaner drivetrain that needs less frequent cleaning. How to use the kit
- Apply the Citrus Degreaser to the chain, cassette, and chainrings. Allow to soak for 1–2 minutes, then agitate with a brush and rinse thoroughly.
- Allow the drivetrain to dry completely before applying lube.
- Apply TF2 Ultra Dry Chain Wax to each chain link while rotating the pedals. Allow to dry for 5–10 minutes before riding.
- Apply TF2 Lithium Grease to bearing surfaces, threads, and seatpost during any service or component removal.
Common questions
What is the difference between the Summer and Winter kits?
The Summer kit includes TF2 Ultra Dry Chain Wax — a dry wax lube suited to dry, dusty conditions. The Winter kit includes TF2 All-Weather Chain Oil — a wet lube that stays on the chain in rain and mud. Both kits include the same Citrus Degreaser and Lithium Grease. Choose Summer for dry conditions, Winter for wet or mixed conditions.
Can I use this kit on an e-bike?
Yes — all three products are suitable for e-bike drivetrains. E-bike chains experience higher torque loads, so regular cleaning and lubing is especially important.
How often should I clean and lube my chain?
Every 100–150 miles in dry conditions, or whenever the chain sounds dry. Degrease every 2–3 lube applications, or whenever the chain is visibly dirty.
Is this kit suitable for road bikes?
Yes — TF2 Ultra Dry Chain Wax is particularly popular with road cyclists for its clean, quiet performance in dry conditions.
